Description

Original art: thewaffleninja.deviantart.com/…

I found a group called :iconimprovement-club:, where you can send pictures you want to be corrected and other members can help you improve your work.

So, I decided to try! I'm not that much of an artist myself, but I think everyone can share experience, right? Helping people is great, and I think the desire to help other people is a great quality in an artist.

The artist in this case asked for a help on the painting, but said that I could also give some tips in other parts of the picture. So I decided to cover anatomy first and then go to the colors.

I wrote most of my tips in the picture, but Here are some other things you should search for in other to improve your style:

:bulletblue: Always look for reference. Study people's faces and bodies, see how the muscles work with each other and how things like nose, mouth and eyes look in someone. I know you went for a more cartoony style, but even in this situation is important to understand how a body works.
:bulletblue: Concerning painting: look for color theory. I always use a tutorial that I found here on deviantArt that helped me a lot on my paintings. It's this one: purplekecleon.deviantart.com/a… - It's a great tutorial and it has pokémon, so it's also fun. But there are books out there who show a lot about color theory, so I suggest you look for them. If you want to improve your painting, this will help!
:bulletblue: Study volume and how light works on objects. It will help you give more depht to your drawings and make them more interesting.

P.S.: Jut remembering that I used my own style while making the lil' tutorial, so obviously the drawing came out very different than yours. It doesn't mean you should change how you like to draw: just pay attention to the tips that I gave you, and only follow them if you think it fits on your style.

Keep improving!

That's a really neat correction, I'm sure it'll have helped the artist in question quite a bit ^^
